Fern - BYS

This was the first green polish I ever got.  It was the one that made me fall in love with greens.

This is a beautiful, dark mossy colour, speckled with silvery glitter.

Like all BYS polishes, it applies nice and smoothly.  This one is great for a glitter as well because it's super easy to take off.

This is with no top coat.

Green and black marble

Marbled nails look really cool.  It's just such a pain that they're hard to get consistent.

Here's a marble I did the other day.  I used black and a lime green by CR.

I loved the pinky the best.

I used the lime green over white as the base to get the green to pop better.

Sorry it's a bit of a mess, I sort of gave up after I couldn't make them all as cool as the pinky!

Matte Royal Blue - BYS

This is an awesome royal blue.  It's supposed to be a matte, but actually dries with more of a satin finish.

As you can see, it's a great, rich blue.  It's a very odd finish though, because it goes on like a jelly, is called a matte but actually dries as a satin.  And it looks much, much cooler with a top coat on it to make it shiny.

Right, here it is with a TC.  How much cooler is this?

Amazing.  I love it.

Blue shimmer/foil -- 4me

This is a pretty awesome polish.  It applies like a shimmer, but dries more like a foil.  It has a very interesting texture, which you can see if you click on and enlarge the pics.

It's a pretty cool colour too, and applies nicely.  This was 3 coats, which usually I don't have time for, but this was worth it.

It looks great layered over white too, I'll have to do that sometime.

Blue Green - Coral Colors

Coral Colours do some pretty cool colours. Most seem to have some sort of shimmer in them though - I'm not really that much of a fan of shimmers at the moment.  After looking at these pics and seeing this on my nails, it looks more green than blue, but as you can see in the bottle shot, it does look blue in the bottle, so I'm not totally crazy.

Totally Tangerine - Orly

I wish this polish looked better on me. I really love the colour in the bottle, but it doesn't do great things for my skin colour.

This is 2 coats - like all Orly's, it's pretty great to apply, and has good cover.

Excuse the dent on my thumb, I smooshed it on my face. Yeah, I'm a hot mess with orange nail polish in my hair right now.

Blugh - Silk

This looks like blue in the bottle, but on the nail, it's more a white, frosty mess. With glitter than looks like pimples. There's nothing else I need to say about this.

Blue Frost - 4me

I'm really annoyed about this polish. I really love the colour, but it's a bit frosty for my liking and no matter how well you apply it, you still get those slight streaks. Maybe no one else notices them, but I do, and they're freaking annoying.
Application was pretty terrible; I thinned it and thinned it, and it still stayed pretty sticky. That probably contributed to the horrible streaks. The brush wasn't the best either.
See, it's really a great colour! I can't decide if I like it or not.

Splash - LA Colors

This is one of my favourite blues of all time. It's a great shiny blue creme, and it applies amazingly smooth.

It's a 2 coater, so it's great for quick manis.

You can get LA Colors at The Warehouse, and they're pretty cheap. The only problem I have with this one is that the brush doesn't always stay glued into the lid. I should glue it in, but I never seem to have glue around!

Dating a Royal - OPI

I really really love blue polish. I really do.

The best sort of blue polish is dark blue, that doesn't turn black in shadow.

Yes, it really is that shiny. Amazing, huh?

This is a creme, so there's no shimmer at all. The best thing about cremes is they're so freaking shiny.

The only downside to this, IMO, is that it has the OPI Pro Wide Brush. I really hate it. I have teeny nails, and I just make a mess with the big brush.

This is 3 coats, you could get away with 2, but I hate VNP (visible nail line, where you can see the white part of your nail), so I do three. It's probably just habit, too.

Lagoon - Avon

This nail polish is horrible. HORRIBLE. It was a streaky mess to apply and looks terrible.

It's blue with a pink/purple shimmer, and I hate it.

Blugh.

Sexy In The City - China Glaze

This polish is from the China Glaze Sexy Sports Collex.

It's a mid-toned blue, with a yellowish shimmer the the light. I don't wear it often because it's a 3 coater, and I don't think it works awesome with my skin tone.

Bottle shot

#31 - The 123 Collection

Welcome to my nail blog.

I intend on using this as an online database of all of my polishes to help me choose what I want to wear, and also to encourage me to actually wear everything I have.

I've decided to go through my polishes by colour family to make it easier.

Here's number one - #31 from The 123 Collection.

This is from The 123 Collection, you can get them from discount stores in New Zealand. I'm disappointed these guys don't have names because they have some pretty cool colours.

Here's a bottle shot. The glitter looked quite dense, so I was hoping that I would be able to make it opaque, however, that was not the case.

Here's the polish layered over white (index), black (middle), silver (ring) and alone (pinky).

This is 4 coats.

As you can see in this pic, there are several sizes and colours of glitter, including some large holos, which are quite cool.

As you can see, it would pretty much never become totally opaque.

The glitter takes ages to dry because you have to do pretty thick layers to get the glitter off the brush and you would need a good thick top coat to even it out.

I might consider putting more glitter in this one to make it more dense and see if that makes it better.

I think I would only ever wear this over black, but it does look pretty awesome layered.
